Offit Kurman Elevates Associate Roster with Arrival of Two Attorneys

Bethesda, MD – (August 16, 2023) – Offit Kurman is pleased to announce the additions of Jason Powell and Zachary Weitz to the firm’s Associates rankings.

Jason Powell joins the firm’s Construction Law practice group resident in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. He represents owners, contractors, and subcontractors in construction matters and litigation across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Powell handles disputes involving contracts, bidding, payments, defects, delays, insurance, mechanics’ liens and joint ventures. He’s appeared before Courts of Common Pleas, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He’s skilled in trials, mediation, arbitration, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiation and appeals. Powell assists clients in business planning, contract negotiation, project consulting, risk management and dispute resolution.

Powell received his B.A. from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School. He also holds his LL.M in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law.

Zachary Weitz joins the firm’s Estates and Trusts practice group resident in the Los Angeles, California office. In addition to his experience with tax forms and tax compliance, Weitz has extensive experience in dispute resolution. He previously served as a mediator with the Los Angeles Superior Court and successfully settled dozens of matters before the court. In addition, following the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017, he helped edit the book, Federal Income Tax (Examples & Explanations), by Katherine Pratt and Thomas Griffith.

Weitz received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego and his J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law Los Angeles. He also holds his LL.M in Tax from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, California.
