Offit Kurman Announces Promotion of Nine Lawyers

BETHESDA, MD – (May 7, 2024) – Offit Kurman is pleased to announce the promotion of six counsel to principal and three associates to counsel, effective April 1.

Greg Emrick, Principal
Baltimore, Maryland

Emrick focuses on commercial disputes and litigation. He routinely pursues and defends claims in commercial contract disputes and fiduciary breaches. He earned J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law and his B.A. from Lafayette College.

Tom Halm, Principal
Hackensack, New Jersey

A member of the firm’s Distressed Real Estate practice, Halm has nearly 30 years of experience as a commercial litigator focusing on creditors’ rights. He serves as a trusted advisor to financial institutions, investment firms, private lenders, creditors and others in the financial services industry. Halm earned his J.D. and B.A. from Seton Hall University.

Faith Miros, Principal
Hackensack, New Jersey

Miros has extensive experience advising on real estate matters related to acquisitions, dispositions, financing, development, leasing and management across all asset classes. Her clients include commercial landlords and tenants, real estate developers and individual investors in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Miros earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and her B.A. from Wesleyan University.

Brittany Rainey, Principal
Tysons Corner, Virginia

A member of Offit Kurman’s Landlord Representation team, Rainey works with clients through a variety of civil litigation matters, including landlord-tenant claims, real estate disputes and debtor/creditor litigation. She devotes a substantial amount of her practice to representing commercial and residential landlords and property managers in litigation associated with unlawful detainers, tenants’ assertions, and breach of lease claims. Rainey received her J.D. from Washington & Lee University and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Radford University.

Anders Sleight, Principal
Tysons Corner, Virginia

With a decade of experience as commercial litigator, Sleight focuses on advising and representing small businesses, banks, credit unions, servicers, property owners, agencies and individuals in litigation matters throughout Virginia and the District of Columbia. He routinely represents and advises clients regarding real estate matters, including buy/sell/lease transactions, title disputes, easements, landlord/tenant and eminent domain/condemnation actions. Sleight earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.

Sidney Washington, Principal
Tysons Corner, Virginia

Washington is a member of Offit Kurman’s Landlord Representation group where she is focused on assisting landlords and property managers through various residential and commercial real estate matters. A former criminal defense attorney, she has extensive experience with bench and jury trials in both civil and criminal defense cases. Washington earned her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law and her B.A. from George Mason University.

Summer Abel, Counsel
Bethesda, Maryland

Abel is a member of the firm’s Family Law practice. She focuses on divorce, custody, spousal and child support, property division and division of retirement benefits. Abel received her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law and her B.S. from the University of South Florida.

Amy Czekala, Counsel
Tysons Corner, Virginia

Czekala is a member of the firm’s Landlord Representation practice, where he focuses on real estate, creditor’s rights matters and litigation. Czekala works with residential and commercial property owners, management companies and landlords, financial institutions and small businesses. She earned her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law and her B.A. from Merrimack College.

Jesci Norrington, Counsel
Tysons Corner, Virginia

Norrington focuses her practice on estate planning, probate, trust and estate administration matters and non-contested guardianship and conservatorship cases. She counsels clients serving as executors and trustees through the probate and trust administration process. Norrington earned her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from James Madison University.
