Offit Kurman Adds Government Investigations to its Litigation Capabilities with Distinguished Legal Duo Cathy Fleming and Harold Ruvoldt

HACKENSACK, NJ (July 20, 2023) – With the addition of principals Cathy Fleming and Harold Ruvoldt in the firm’s New York City and Hackensack, NJ offices, Offit Kurman has added Government Investigations and criminal defense capabilities to its roster of litigation services. The legal veterans have deep experience (including experience as former federal and state prosecutors) handling criminal, regulatory and civil matters, as well as subpoena compliance, for public and private clients.

“Government investigations and enforcement matters are challenging, high-stakes proceedings often involving substantial financial and reputational risk. Individuals and businesses under investigation need experienced counsel to help them navigate these complex and fast-moving proceedings. Having begun their careers on the other side of these proceedings, Cathy and Harold have insight into how investigations arise and, more importantly, how to address them to minimize or eliminate any adverse impact,” said Tim Lynch, Offit Kurman’s President.

A former federal prosecutor with over more than 43 years of experience, Fleming represents companies and their executives and employees in criminal investigations, tax investigations, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) enforcement proceedings, extradition, money laundering cases, class-action lawsuits and other civil cases. Also experienced in crisis management, she has performed many roles, including spearheading internal investigations. In addition, Fleming counsels and represents boards and committees of both public and private companies, providing valuable financial and management insights. Fleming has tried more than 60 cases to verdict, most in federal courts.

A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a former President of the National Association of Women Lawyers, Fleming earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.
