Healthcare Insurance Considerations for Employers
Featuring Offit Kurman Attorney, Maggie DiCostanzo
A growing trend is for employers to bring their health insurance programs in-house and become self-insured. One recent study concluded that even large, self-insured employers usually lack the power needed to effectively negotiate prices with doctors and hospitals. As a result, self-insured employers still have to rely on insurance company networks, discounts, claims payment, reporting, and care management.
Self-insured health insurance programs can generate significant savings, but they can also create significant risk. Mitigating this risk and maximizing savings requires active management of insurance companies, third party claims payors, discounted networks, reporting, and others.
Dr. Rick Hammer, a former payor executive, will join healthcare attorney Maggie DiCostanzo in discussing these underlying issues followed by ideas and examples of how employers can enhance their health insurance programs while minimizing risk.
