News: Press Release
Wojciech “Voytek” Jackowski to Present on Construction Contracts at the NYC Bar CLE Program
For Immediate Release
July 22, 2019 | New York, New York What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of standardized forms of construction contracts? What terms should an agreement address in order to minimize uncertainties during the construction phase of a real estate development project? How should you advise your client on what to look out for in a term sheet or during contract negotiations?
From owners to developers, design professionals to contractors of all tiers, construction professionals have numerous questions about structuring and papering their relationships on a project. Offit Kurman attorney Wojciech “Voytek” Jackowski has answers.
Back by popular demand, on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019, Mr. Jackowski will speak as a panelist at Construction Contracts 101: Demystifying Design & Construction Contracts for the Successful Project, a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program presented by the New York City Bar.
As its title implies, Construction Contracts 101 will provide insights into the fundamentals of construction contracts. With case studies, real-world examples, and panel discussions, the program will explore the major contracting documents behind every construction project, touching on considerations for owners, developers, design professionals, primes, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, legal advisors, and other key stakeholders. Attendees will learn about the various project risks, understand the perspective each party brings to negotiations, and discover best practices for securing favorable, mutually beneficial results. The program will conclude with an update on current legal trends, recent touchstone decisions, and coming legal challenges in the construction industry, along with guidance on how to address these changes.
Led by program chair Robert C. Angelillo, Mr. Jackowski will join fellow attorneys Jeffrey R. Escobar, Sarah Sparer, and Richard R. Volack for the presentation. The program will take place from 9:00am–12:30pm, and will be offered in-person as well as via live webcast. It is eligible for 4.1 CLE Credits in New Jersey, 4.0 CLE Credits in New York and California, and 3.0 CLE Credits in Pennsylvania.
