USCIS InfoPass Modernization Program

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has been expanding InfoPass Modernization (InfoMod)[1] to all field offices. The Washington District Office will implement the InfoPass Modernization beginning Monday, June 24, 2019. USCIS expects to expand the program to all field offices by the end of fiscal year (FY) 2019.

The InfoMod Program will be ending self-scheduling InfoPass appointments with the goal to encourage applicants to utilize USCIS’ online resources on general how-to information and to check their case status through the USCIS Contact Center.[2] With recent changes, applicants can now access their case status and other immigration information without having to visit a local field office. This new program which initially launched in March of 2019 has been put in place to shift more of USCIS’ services and information online.

How the InfoPass Modernization Program Works:[3]

  • Applicants who attempt to use the InfoPass System will be redirected to a landing page, informing them that the field office is not accepting walk-in requests or appointments.
  • Those who need assistance with document services (such as passport stamps and advance parole) or have an emergency should reach out to the USCIS National Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283.
  • Callers requesting an appointment will be redirected to a 2 Tier officer to determine if an appointment is needed.
