Thomas W. Repczynski Appointed Chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan School of the Arts
For Immediate Release
Alexandria, VA | January 14, 2019
Thomas W. Repczynski, a Principal and Shareholder with Offit Kurman’s Commercial Litigation (South) Practice Group, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA).
Founded in 2001, MSA is an arts education establishment based in the Northern Virginia and Metropolitan DC area. The school’s mission is “to launch students who change the world, by reaching their fullest potential as artists, innovators, and global citizens.” The school’s performing arts curricula include dance, theater, and music programs for budding artists as well as for adults.
Mr. Repczynski has been involved with MSA for several years as an attorney and advisor to the board and Founder, Executive Director, Melissa Dobbs.
“I could not have been any more pleased to have been asked recently to join the MSA Board of Directors and honored, subsequently, to have been elected to assume the Chairman’s seat being vacated by current MSA Chairman, Cos DiMaggio,” wrote Mr. Repczynski in an open letter to the MSA community. “I accept this position with both present awareness and growing appreciation of all that MSA’s first 20 years has entailed and optimistic anticipation of great things yet to come for the Academy, the Studio, our performances, productions, specialized programming, dance troupes, physical space, and, of course, the MSA Community itself.”
He adds, “MSA is poised to become the preeminent provider of performing arts training and opportunities for pre-undergraduates and all ages in a safe, non-competitive environment led by a leadership team and faculty second to none.”
Mr. Repczynski has held numerous leadership positions in Northern Virginia and DC area organizations, serving as President or Chairman of the Fairfax Bar Association (FBA), South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scout Troop 688, the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Walter T. McCarthy Law Library, and the Fairfax Public Law Library.
At Offit Kurman, Mr. Repczynski helps clients navigate business and inheritance-related fiduciary matters involving “divorcing” business partners, will/trust/insurance beneficiaries, executors, trustees, guardians, and attorneys-in-fact under Powers of Attorney. His diverse practice also includes creditors’ rights enforcement, real estate litigation, and general commercial business disputes. He routinely pursues, defends, and negotiates the broadest range of fiduciary proceedings, pre- and post-judgment collection actions and workouts, and real estate-related disputes of all types.
As a pragmatic, cost-conscious, resolution-oriented legal advisor and advocate, Mr. Repczynski represents and advises a broad array of individuals, nonprofit boards, lenders, business owners, and foreign corporations doing business in the US. His substantial litigation and dispute resolution experience spans state and federal courts (bankruptcy, district, and appellate), as well as mediation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings and reflects a broad range of general business contract and tort, inheritance-related, and lending/bankruptcy issues. He also routinely advises/co-counsels or consults with divorce/family law counsel and their clients regarding a full range of inheritance, life insurance, and bankruptcy-related issues arising before, during, and after divorce proceedings.
