Seven Offit Kurman Attorneys Named to Washingtonian Top Lawyers List

For Immediate Release

Bethesda, MD | October 27, 2020

Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that seven of its lawyers have been selected for inclusion in the Washingtonian Top Lawyers 2020 List. In the family law practice, Joseph Condo, Sara Donohue, Cheryl Hepfer, and Marjorie Just were honored with the distinction. Michelle Evans and Lauren Jenkins were selected for their exceptional work in the Trusts & Estates practice.

The process of the Washingtonian Top Lawyers list starts with a survey of nearly 1,000 attorneys, asking whom of their peers should be considered. Then, through research and reporting, Washingtonian Magazine looks for recent notable successes at the local bar.

Joseph Condo focuses his practice in the areas of family law. Recognized as one of the most accomplished and proficient family-law attorneys in Virginia, he has been included in all of Washingtonian Magazine’s lists of the Washington area’s best divorce lawyers since 1981, described in the magazine’s February 2009 issue as a “Virginia legend” who “knows how it’s done.” His peers chose him for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, beginning with its first edition in 1983, and he has been listed in each edition since then.

Working as a family law attorney for over thirty years, Sara M. Donohue has practiced in the field of domestic law in both Maryland and the District of Columbia. Her practice includes working on complex divorce and custody matters. In addition to handling matrimonial matters in the traditional negotiation and litigation modes, she has been trained in Collaborative Law and is a member of Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc. Ms. Donohue also has an interest in the practice of adoption law.

Michelle Evans focuses her practice on estate planning and trust and estate administration in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Ms. Evans assists clients with creating estate plans to meet their financial and personal objectives. Such planning often includes the preparation of Wills, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Durable General Powers of Attorney, and Advance Medical Directives.

Cheryl Hepfer PhotoCheryl Hepfer is a highly-regarded attorney who has practiced family law for more than 40 years. She has been rated by her peers and is listed in Best Lawyers in America and as a top lawyer in the Washingtonian, Bethesda Magazine, and Super Lawyers which highlighted her with their cover story titled “The Bold Type” for their January 2020 edition. She is past president of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Her practice consists primarily of domestic litigation involving significant assets and business interests.

Lauren Jenkins focuses her practice on tax and estate planning, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, trust and estate administration, and tax compliance in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Ms. Jenkins is a sought-after lecturer and author on estate planning, estate administration, and trust topics. In recognition of her work, Ms. Jenkins has received a number of awards and honors, including distinction as a Top Lawyer, Top Wealth Advisor, and Top Financial Professional in lists published by Northern Virginia Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, and Arlington Magazine, and is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Marjorie Just is the Chair of the Family Law Practice Group (North). Her practice as a family law attorney focuses on the negotiation, settlement, and litigation of complex family law matters in Maryland and the District of Columbia, including property distribution, custody, child support, alimony and same-sex marriage. She prepares family-related agreements such as pre-marital agreements, post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements, and reproductive agreements. She also acts as a mediator of divorce cases, and is trained as a collaborative lawyer.  She is Co-President of the DC Metro chapter of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law.
