Five Offit Kurman Attorneys Named to Washingtonian Top Divorce Lawyers List

Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that five of its lawyers have been selected for inclusion in the Washingtonian Top Divorce Lawyers 2021 List. Joseph Condo, in the firm’s Tyson’s office and Sandra Brooks, Sara Donohue, Cheryl Hepfer and Marjorie Just in the firm’s Bethesda office.

The process of the Washingtonian Top Lawyers list starts with a survey of nearly 1,000 attorneys, asking whom of their peers should be considered. Then, through research and reporting, Washingtonian Magazine looks for recent notable successes at the local bar.

Sandra A Brooks focuses her practice on all aspects of family law. She dedicates her time to assisting clients in domestic law matters including divorce, child custody/visitation, family mediation, spousal/child support, property division, and division of retirement benefits. Ms. Brooks' other areas of deep knowledge and experience include tax consequences of divorce, mediation, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, negotiating and drafting of separation agreements, domestic litigation, and post-judgment proceedings. Ms. Brooks is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers which places her in the top 5% of family law attorneys in the United States.

Joseph Condo focuses his practice in the areas of family law. Recognized as one of the most accomplished and proficient family-law attorneys in Virginia, he has been included in all of Washingtonian Magazine’s lists of the Washington area’s best divorce lawyers since 1981, described in the magazine’s February 2009 issue as a “Virginia legend” who “knows how it’s done.” His peers chose him for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, beginning with its first edition in 1983 and listed in each edition.

Sara Donohue has practiced in the field of domestic law in both Maryland and the District of Columbia for over thirty years. Her practice includes working on complex divorce and custody matters. In addition to handling matrimonial matters in the traditional negotiation and litigation modes, she has been trained in Collaborative Law and is a member of Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc.  Ms. Donohue also has an interest in the practice of adoption law, custody and visitation, child support, post-divorce issues and mediation.

Cheryl Hepfer is a highly regarded attorney who has practiced family law for more than 40 years. She has been rated by her peers and is listed in Best Lawyers in America and as a top lawyer in the Washingtonian, Bethesda Magazine, and Super Lawyers. She is past president of both the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Her practice consists primarily of domestic litigation involving significant assets and business interests.

Marjorie Just is a Principal attorney and Chair of the Family Law Practice Group (North). Her practice as a family law attorney focuses on the negotiation, settlement, and litigation of complex family law matters in Maryland and the District of Columbia, including property distribution, custody, child support, alimony, same-sex marriage, and domestic partnerships. She prepares family-related agreements such as pre-marital agreements, separation agreements, and reproductive agreements. She is also trained as a family mediator and collaborative lawyer.
