Paul J. Winterhalter Quoted in the Philadelphia Business Journal on the Sale of Cardile Mushrooms Inc.

Offit Kurman Bankruptcy Attorney Paul J. Winterhalter was quoted in a November 16, 2021 article in the Philadelphia Business Journal regarding the sale of Cardile Mushrooms Inc. to an affiliate of Sandton Capital Partners. He shared how the acquisition is an example of the increase in private equity involvement in the Pennsylvania mushroom industry. Winterhalter, who represented the mushroom grower in the sale, commented on the challenges commonly faced by smaller operators in the industry.

“It’s a relatively positive outcome to a difficult situation,” he said. “The large, strong firms survive and the more family-oriented operations can’t compete. They don’t have the financial resources to maintain the capital equipment to run the business.”
