Offit Kurman’s Jim Ries Honored as Volunteer of the Year for Central Maryland Chamber

For Immediate Release

Baltimore, MD | August 31, 2020

Offit Kurman’s Director of Business Development, Jim Ries, has been honored with Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year Award, which was presented to him at the Third Annual (Virtual) Meeting on Wednesday, August 19th. Mr. Ries was also inaugurated into the Hall of Fame; the induction ceremony coincided with the Annual Meeting. The keynote speaker was Jay Perman, MD, Chancellor of the University System of Maryland.

In order to be selected for the Volunteer of the Year award, you must be chosen by the CMCC’s Board of Directors and the award may only be granted to an individual member in good standing who has served as a volunteer within the last 12 months. This member must also have provided material assistance to the CMCC and/or its staff in an effort to further its stated mission and/or grow its membership.

The CMCC aims to be the primary business resource and catalyst for their members’ business success. They have four core strategies: advocate, promote, inform, and connect. Through these four core strategies, the CMCC is able to give members the tools they need in order to be the voice of reason regarding issues impacting Central Maryland, while also creating, offering and encouraging cross-marketing opportunities while staying up-to-date on trends.

In order for Jim Ries to succeed at his job, in his own words, he needs to “network, meet, and connect with these kinds of people, and Central Maryland Chamber has provided the platform I need to do just that. They have been a wonderful resource for me. With their Business Connections Network, their busy calendar of events, and their willingness to go the extra mile to make introductions for me. It is for these reasons that I am quick to recommend Central Maryland Chamber to the many people who like to ‘pick my brain’ for the best networking opportunities in the area.”

As Offit Kurman’s Director of Business Development, Jim Ries finds small to mid-sized business owners who need legal help and good attorneys who are looking for a better place to practice law. He develops referral relationships, and drives revenue growth by helping business leaders and families of wealth address some of their most difficult challenges. Mr. Ries also identifies and develops strategic partnerships and market opportunities. He has access to a deep network of attorneys in every practice area, and is able to connect his clients to the right attorneys who can resolve their legal disputes and protect their assets. Mr. Ries is a master networker, and his high-level connections call him for solutions when they don’t know who to call. Let him be your Google.
