News: Press Release
Offit Kurman to Host INTA Roundtables in New York and Baltimore
New York, NY and Baltimore, MD | September 3, 2019 Offit Kurman will be hosting two International Trademark Association (INTA) Roundtable events this month at the firm’s offices in New York City and Baltimore.
Both events share the same topic and title: “Searching for an Answer: Considerations for Trademark Searching and Clearance.” Each Roundtable will feature an in-depth discussion about trademark search and clearance — the process used to determine whether a proposed trademark resembles another that may already be registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The program charts the evolution of the USPTO’s physical filing system into the first online databases in the 1980s and the many resources available today. Attendees will learn why conducting trademark clearance is easier now than ever before, along with how to determine when a search is needed and how to develop a strategy for clearing a mark.
Offit Kurman Intellectual Property attorney Laura Winston will host the New York Roundtable on September 12th. IP attorney Jonathan Wachs will host in Baltimore on September 17th. Interested parties can attend in-person or remotely, as both events will be streamed live over the internet. The registration fee per session is $50 for INTA members and $75 for non-members.
