Offit Kurman Selected as Finalist in 2018 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics

For Immediate Release

Maple Lawn, MD | September 24, 2018 The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Greater Maryland has selected Offit Kurman as a finalist in the 2018 Torch Awards for Ethics. The annual award honors Maryland-based organizations that demonstrate high standards of honesty and integrity and a commitment to advancing marketplace trust. Other finalists this year include All-Pro Placement Service, Inc.; Cheaper Than a Geek;  Electronic Billing & Customer Support (EBCS); Friedman, Framme & Thrush, P.A.; and Synchronicity Boutique.

The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics are open to private sector and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. To be eligible, an organization must have been in business for three years or more, have no outstanding financial obligations, and possess a “B” rating or higher with the BBB.

Offit Kurman follows a rigorous set of ethical principles in every interaction with clients and attorneys within and outside the firm, and has developed several programs to promote ethical behavior in the legal profession. The firm’s Legal Ethics Practice Group, for instance, works to uphold standards related to issues such as unfair competition, conflicts of interest, and attorney discipline. Another example of the firm’s ethical commitment is Offit Kurman University (OKU), which offers online, interactive skill enhancement and professional growth courses for attorneys and support staff to increase efficiency and accountability. These programs complement Offit Kurman’s community involvement: over the past five years, the firm has also donated over $100,000 to charitable organizations such as the Chimes Foundation, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the American Heart Association.

“By nature, Offit Kurman Attorneys At Law is an organization rooted in ethical practices,” said Offit Kurman CEO and co-founder Ted Offit. “Upholding and demonstrating our commitment to ethics is a personal priority for our leadership as well as a prime concern when providing services to our clients.”

The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics winners be announced the BBB of Greater Maryland’s 101 Signature event on September 27th at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. In addition to honoring local businesses, the evening commemorates the BBB of Greater Maryland’s 101st anniversary. For more information, and to register, click here.
