Offit Kurman Represents in a $100M Credit Facility
November 17, 2020 | New York, NY
One of Offit Kurman’s clients, a leading direct-lending mortgage bank specializing in residential home financing, consummated a transaction with an international bank through which they obtained a credit facility of $100 million. The additional credit facility will permit an expansion of their lending and servicing abilities. The team that represented the client included Wayne Watkinson, Umar A. Sheikh, and Albena Petrakov, who are part of our Institutional Regulatory, Business Law, and Transaction, Real Estate, and Creditor’s Rights practice groups, respectively.
Wayne Watkinson is an attorney whose practice, since 1996, has concentrated on representing mortgage lenders and brokers and depositories in compliance, transactional, corporate, and litigation matters. He also assists clients in establishing mortgage companies in obtaining mortgage banking licenses throughout the country, preparing for and responding to state licensing examinations, and defending administrative enforcement actions.
Umar A. Sheikh is an attorney with over fifteen years of practical experience, having received his JD from Brooklyn Law School in 2000. Umar’s practice concentrates on all aspects of real estate law – purchases, sales, financing, development, leasing, evictions, foreclosures, management – and those areas of law that are related to real estate – corporate, tax, asset protection, estate planning, and litigation. Umar regularly represents parties in purchasing, selling, and financing multifamily, mixed-use, commercial and retail properties. He also represents borrowers in CMBS transactions, hard money lenders, and “fix and flip” investors.
Albena Petrakov advises on restructuring, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and real estate-related litigation. Ms. Petrakov has extensive experience representing clients in bankruptcy and commercial matters in both civil and common law jurisdictions. She has represented secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, debtors, and lenders in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases in various industries, including financial services, retail, hospitality, aircraft manufacturing, energy, and technology, to name only a few.
