Offit Kurman Enhances Commercial Litigation Practice with Addition Janene Marasciullo

Professional headshot of attorney Janene MarasciulloNew York, NY – (April 17, 2024) – Offit Kurman is pleased to welcome Principal Janene Marasciullo to the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice, resident in the New York, New York office.

Janene is an accomplished advocate with a wealth of first-chair experience litigating complex and novel disputes. She has successfully litigated a wide variety of commercial, fraud, qui tam, business tort, defamation and trade secrets and restrictive covenant disputes, with a particular emphasis on disputes arising within the financial services and insurance sectors. In addition, she has successfully represented clients during SEC and FINRA investigations and IRS controversies. Janene has handled cases from inception through appeal in federal and state courts across the United States as well as in arbitration forums such as FINRA Dispute Resolution and the American Arbitration Association. As a result of these experiences, Janene is equally adept at resolving disputes through negotiation, motions practice and, when necessary, trial.  

Prior to her tenure in private practice, Janene served as a trial attorney at both the Civil Division and the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she litigated complex contract disputes, civil fraud cases, customs issues and tax matters on behalf of the government. She also held the position of Senior Counsel in the Enforcement Department of NASD (predecessor to FINRA), where she investigated violations of federal securities laws. During her time at NASD, Janene was recognized with the President’s Award for her contributions to the Mutual Funds Breakpoints Task Force. Additionally, she served as Senior Corporate Counsel at a multinational conglomerate, overseeing litigation and compliance initiatives, and chaired the Securities Industry Practice at an AM 100 law firm.

Janene earned her J.D., with honors, from George Washington University and her B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College.
