Maple Lawn | November 6, 2018 Offit Kurman is continuing its busy year of bringing in firms across the Northeast as part of its goal to become a 200-lawyer firm by 2020.

The firm’s latest move is taking place at its Maple Lawn headquarters as the firm announced attorneys at Schreibstein & Tucker, LLC will join that office.

Richard B. Schreibstein and Eric E. Tucker are real estate, business, and estate planning attorneys based in Howard County. The attorneys have a combined 60 years of experience handling matters involving business transactions, domestic partnerships, estate and trust administration, franchise law, elder law, guardianships, real estate transactions, intellectual property, among other areas, Offit Kurman said.

Schreibstein & Tucker also has represented businesses of all sizes in a range of industries, including hospitality, engineering, medicine, biotechnology, health and fitness, and retail automotive industries, and it has represented other professionals, including lawyers, physicians, and accountants.

“Our affiliation will provide our clients with the opportunity of a greater breadth of services from excellent lawyers in areas we cannot currently serve. Until I started speaking with Ted (Offit), I did not realize how many common contacts we have,” Schreibstein said.

The Columbia-based law firm, which will be joining Offit Kurman on Dec. 1, also has several clients in the hospitality industry on the East Coast, Ohio and California.

“Each of our firms has deep Howard County roots, and our shared sense of professionalism and approach to the law make this affiliation a great fit for both our firms. Richard (Schreibstein) is also a longtime friend to Offit Kurman — he has regularly referred work our way, and knows many of the lawyers in our Baltimore and Howard County offices,” said Offit Kurman CEO and chairman, Ted Offit, in a news release.

Offit Kurman has been busy with acquisitions this year, as the firm also sought to increase its presence in the largest legal market in the country: New York City. In October, the firm announced it was acquiring Manhattan law firm Salon Marrow Dyckman Newman & Broudy LLP, a move that will put the firm’s largest office in the Big Apple as of Jan. 1.

Thirty full-time lawyers for the firm will be based in New York City with the Salon Marrow addition. Offit Kurman started with two lawyers in that office at the beginning of the year.

Earlier this year, Offit Kurman made its first moves in New York City by absorbing Eaton & Van Winkle and then Menaker & Herrmann.
