Mr. Syed was invited by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) DC Chapter to share his expertise in business and investment related visas and immigration at its premier conference.  He will be speaking on advanced issues in intracompany transfer (L-1) visas.   The L-1 intracompany transfer nonimmigrant visa allows foreign national executive/managerial employees located outside the U.S. to work in the U.S. for an affiliated entity.  An L-1 visa is a non-immigrant status and does not automatically give the foreign employee permanent residency or a “green card”.  But it may in certain circumstances be a very useful gateway for a green card.  Mr. Syed will be presenting along with leading experts in this field to an audience of legal professionals.  This panel is being offered for Continuing Legal Education Credit.  Further details of the conference and the advanced L-1 panel are below.

The annual AILA DC Chapter Fall 2018 Conference [1] will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the University of Maryland and Shady Grove Conference Center in Rockville, MD.  This conference will feature three tracks with panels and will have leading experts to share their knowledge.   The three tracks are: (1) Business; (2) Family/USCIS; and (3) Litigation, Removal & Humanitarian.

Founded in 1946, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is a national bar association of attorneys who practice and teach immigration law. AILA Member attorneys represent tens of thousands of U.S. businesses and industries, foreign students, entertainers, athletes, and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis. AILA is an Affiliated Organization of the American Bar Association.

The AILA DC Chapter represents over 800 member attorneys in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Located close to the headquarters offices of the agencies that administer our immigration system, as well as the houses of Congress, our chapter maintains close contact with the lawmakers and officials who have an important impact on our clients’ lives. Chapter meetings feature prominent guest speakers from the Departments of Homeland Security, State, Justice, and Labor, and the Chapter is active in liaison and advocacy efforts. We are happy to share the latest updates with AILA members nationwide.
