Mark Shaffer Joins Offit Kurman in Tysons Corner

Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that Mark Shaffer has joined the firm’s offices in Tysons Corner.  Mr. Shaffer will serve as a principal-level attorney with the firm's Government Contracting Practice Group.

Mark is a first chair trial attorney with significant courtroom experience. He has litigated throughout the United States with substantial experience in the state and federal courts of Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Mark concentrates his litigation practice in construction litigation, eminent domain, contract disputes, land use litigation, and leasing disputes. He represents owners, developers, contractors, project engineers and design professionals at all levels of the state and federal courts, and includes litigating a wide variety of design defects, differing site conditions, delay claims, and change orders. He also represents owners and developers in zoning appeals, development agreements, easement rights and restrictive covenant disputes.

Mark litigates a wide variety of government contract claims, including disputes between prime and subcontractors, contract termination claims, teaming agreement disputes, and non-compete agreement disputes. He also has significant experience litigating business and corporate disputes, including breach of fiduciary duty claims and derivative actions.

Before he attained his law degree, Mark served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. Mark continues to serve with the United States Marine Corps Reserves, and previously served in Iraq.

Mr. Shaffer is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Law and the University of Baltimore (magna cum laude).
