Julia Rix Joins Offit Kurman’s Business Law and Transactions Practice Group

Bethesda, MD – (May 20, 2024) – Offit Kurman is pleased to welcome Principal Julia Rix to the firm’s Business Law and Transactions practice, resident in the Bethesda, Maryland office.

Rix brings a wealth of experience, primarily focusing on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions in international and cross-border settings. She identifies international, corporate development goals in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, restructuring, joint ventures, foreign investment, corporate finance and governance, ESG, compliance, contract management and procurement, general corporate matters, board and shareholder management, risk analysis and licensing, and commercial agreements. She works with clients that are either individuals, startups, private equity, venture capital or global multinationals. In addition to her corporate and transactional work, Rix has extensive experience serving as outside counsel to businesses on complex matters including cross-border and U.S. commercial transactions, compliance, corporate governance and other daily operational issues.

Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Rix was in-house counsel for a global multinational conglomerate, advising on corporate and commercial issues in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. She has additional experience developing and implementing corporate governance and compliance programs for multinational companies. Rix has led and contributed to global corporate reorganization projects, various spin-offs, mergers and acquisitions in the Latin American region and Europe, including coordinating legal aspects of financing transactions with treasury, tax and finance departments.

Rix first studied law at the University of Trier Law School in Germany. She then received her undergraduate education at Florida Atlantic University and obtained her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University – Shephard Broad Law Center. She also earned an LL.M. in International Business and Economics Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Rix’s legal education in Europe and North America uniquely positions her to guide multinational clients to navigate both civil and common law.

She is a member of the International Bar Association, CHIEF, Global Leaders in Law and the American Bar Association. She is fluent in German and Spanish and proficient in French, Portugues and Italian.
