Herb Fineburg Offers Guidance on Business Transactions as Presenter with Life Sciences PA Panel
Philadelphia, PA | August 13, 2019
From buyouts to sales, from initial public offerings (IPOs) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, a life sciences company may experience several major business events throughout its lifecycle. With each of these milestones comes significant risk and legal uncertainty. Fortunately, life sciences business owners and leaders can count on assistance from experienced legal advisors such as Herbert Fineburg of Offit Kurman.
Mr. Fineburg recently joined with professionals from Morgan Stanley to present “About to be Flush: How to Play a Winning Hand,” an interactive panel hosted by Life Sciences PA. His fellow presenters included Morgan Stanley executive directors Joseph Romano (who also serves as Head of the Wealth Planning Center for the Mid-Atlantic Region) and Eric Salmansohn (who also serves as Family Wealth Director, Senior Investment Management Consultant, and Financial Advisor).
The panel covered what business owners and leaders need to know before a buyout, sale, IPO, or FDA approval to best plan for their companies, families, and legacies. Attendees learned how to navigate transactions from start to finish, avoid potential pitfalls, build effective, multi-disciplinary teams and re-organize the ownership of their company equity interests to minimize federal estate and income taxes on and after the transaction. The panel also explored how business decision-makers can maximize their companies’ worth, enhance their positions during major financial business deals, and prepare for the transition phase.
Mr. Fineburg is a Principal Attorney at Offit Kurman, as well as a shareholder and Managing Partner of the firm’s Philadelphia office. He is recognized as one of Philadelphia’s most respected business lawyers, using a substantial knowledge of tax law to provide clients with strategic and cost-saving benefits in connection with commercial transactions, taxation and wills, and trusts and estates matters.
