Emily Gelmann Joins Offit Kurman in Bethesda

Bethesda, MD | March 6, 2018 Offit Kurman is pleased to announce today that Emily Gelmann has joined the firm’s office in Bethesda. Ms. Gelmann is one of more than a dozen lawyers to affiliate their practices with Offit Kurman in 2018, rapidly bringing the firm closer to its goal of 200 attorneys by the year 2020.

Emily Gelmann’s personal and professional experience enables her to understand clients’ challenges and needs, help them achieve their goals, and ensure they are able to move forward following a divorce. She handles family law matters, including divorce, custody, pre- and post-nuptial agreements for traditional and non-traditional families and represents children in consent adoption cases.

As a trained mediator and certified collaborative divorce practitioner, Ms. Gelmann also enjoys working with clients interested in resolving their issues through alternative dispute resolution without the burden of costly complex divorce litigation. However, when litigation is unavoidable, she is ready to handle all aspects of each client’s case.

Ms. Gelmann remains up-to-date on the latest developments and best practices in family law through her involvement in local and state bar associations, and as a Barrister with the Inns of Court of Montgomery County. She currently serves as co-chair of the Bar Association of Montgomery County’s Family Law Section.

Ms. Gelmann focused on LGBTQ issues as an undergraduate and, while in law school, dedicated her studies to non-traditional families, with a concentration on intended parenthood and complex biological situations. She now represents sperm donors for known donor agreements. She remains current on the ongoing development of familial structures, and has authored several articles on these topics.

In 2017 and 2018, Maryland Super Lawyers named Ms. Gelmann to its “Rising Stars” list in the area of Family Law.
