Virginia Civil Lawsuit Filings Surge in 2023

Civil lawsuit filings in Virginia’s General District Courts increased more than 14% in 2023. The biggest increase? Unlawful detainer (eviction) filings rose by more than 40%. Meanwhile, Circuit Court civil filings increased only 4% during 2023.
