Deadline Modified: Federal Reporting Data on Employees

Running a business involves a lot of paperwork. While not always the most glamorous, keeping on top of deadlines is essential from a legal standpoint. Last year, employers were given a “reprieve” from EEO-1 data reporting requirements mandated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) due to COVID-19. The EEO-1 form seeks to provide a “snapshot” of a company’s workforce, including demographic information such as gender and race.

This year, the requirement is back – however, last week, the EEOC announced that it is pushing back the deadline from July 19 to August 23. This additional time should allow employers with fifty (50) or more employees to submit requests for clarification to the EEOC and fill out the related form. I recommend reviewing the EEOC website and connecting with counsel on any questions relating to the requirement and how/if it applies to your organization. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss.
