M&A Timing – The Time May Be Now

Life time passing concept. Hourglass with sun light backgroundWe live in unique times.  The uniqueness of our time provides many business opportunities including deals for sellers and buyers. For sellers, taxes are still low (for now).  All the experts agree that in the near future taxes will be raised and (likely) significantly. Tax drives transactions and can net the seller many more dollars in their pocket in the current tax environment.

For buyers, the “COVID effect” has caused the marketplace of sellers to increase by approximately ten percent (10%) over the usual number of sellers in the market at any time. This is due to some business owners being fed up with the times and deciding to sell earlier than anticipated. For both sellers and buyers, interest rates are still low (for now) and access to capital is good. Thus, deal terms and multiples can create the win/win and balance sought by all parties to a transaction.

Timing your M&A transaction is paramount to get the best deals. The current timing is ripe for all parties to seek transactions, regardless of whether selling or buying.
