Chamber Signature Event

On Friday night, the Chamber hosted its Signature Event at Turf Valley. Hundreds gathered to enjoy each other’s company, applaud award winners, to have a delicious meal, and to enjoy the comedy of Greg Schwem.

The 2018 Awards for Chamber Excellence were awarded to:

  • Large Business of the Year:  Tower Federal Credit Union
  • Small Business of the Year:  Tino’s Italian Bistro
  • Business Person of the Year:  Greg Fitchitt
  • Entrepreneur of the Year:  Creig Northrop
  • Govconnects Business of the Year:  Sparksoft Corporation
  • Community Impact Award:  Pam Long
  • Exemplar of the Year:  Dick Story

In addition, winners announced at the Annual Meeting are:

  • Business Advocate of the Year:  Andrew Robinson
  • Ambassador of the Year:  Janet Loughran
  • Young Professional of the Year:  Antony Justin
  • Govconnects Advocate of the Year:  Mike Cameron

Congratulations to all of the members of our business community who excel and who make life better for the citizens of Howard County.

Near and dear to my heart is Pam Long.  The award she received was especially created for her.  She has always been lovely and unique, but her ability to tell the stories, and to live the stories of the tragedies of Ellicott City has elevated her to new heights.  Dick Story, the Exemplar of the Year, behaved in the manner consistent with the name of the award.  He deferred to the powerful words of Pam Long.

Our Signature Event happens every year and is a wonderful opportunity to network, celebrate, and enjoy. Look for it to come in 2019, and mark your calendars.  It’s an event that you don’t want to miss!
