New USTA Facility Could Be a “Net” Win for Prince William County Community and Developers
Get those racquets ready: the United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section is building a 105,000-square-foot, $15 million headquarters and tennis complex in Prince William County—and igniting a spate of economic activity in the region.
USTA Mid-Atlantic announced the move following news that the Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved a $100,000 economic development grant for the project. As the Washington Business Journal reports, the group purchased 46 acres located in Manassas near the George Mason University Science and Technology Campus, with intentions to keep “at least 10” acres and sell the remaining land to “like-minded sports and wellness partners.”
USTA Mid-Atlantic is currently based in Reston, VA. The group plans to discontinue its lease there in 2019 and begin construction on the new project around 2020. The Manassas facility could open its doors as soon as 2023. Regional real estate developers will no doubt be keeping their eyes on the project until then.
