Franchise Facts: What Is The Best Franchise To Own In 2018?

As a franchise lawyer, I hear this question all the time.  My answer is fairly standard: “I have no idea.”  And it’s true, I don’t. I’ve helped clients review hundreds of concepts in the past 17 years, from dog waste pick up to large medical facilities and daycares, and one size does not fit all.  As with any opportunity, some people are more qualified than others.  Skill sets vary with each individual, all of whom bring to the table different tolerances, goals and work ethics.  So as an attorney, I can’t help you find the most profitable franchise.

However, I can help you determine whether or not a particular franchise makes sense from a legal perspective. While this may not seem as juicy as finding the next trendy business, I can assure you it’s equally important. Knowledge is power, as the saying goes. So if you are considering a franchise, be sure to seek franchise counsel to assist. Failure to understand the risks and address them early on can turn a seemingly good opportunity, into a surprisingly bad deal.
