Stephanie F. Lehman is a principal in the firm's Family Law practice group. For over 25 years, Stephanie's practice has focused on representing clients in New York and New Jersey in all areas of matrimonial, family and fertility law. In addition to handling litigation matters through trial and appeals in both states, she is trained in the collaborative process and mediation.
Stephanie commonly negotiates prenuptial, postnuptial, settlement and separation agreements. She advises clients on pension and retirement plans, stock options and grants, trusts, limited partnerships, closely held corporations, the valuation of businesses, professional licenses, enhanced earning capacity and celebrity status.
In addition to representing high-net-worth individuals in contested and uncontested matrimonial actions and child-related matters (including custody, parenting time, relocation and paternity and domestic violence), Stephanie is on the cutting edge of fast-evolving fertility law. She represents cases involving egg donation, intended parenthood, surrogacy, frozen embryos and private and third-party adoption. Given Stephanie's dual license and practice in both New York and New Jersey, she is frequently retained to represent clients with issues under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act and Uniform and the Federal Uniform Interstate Family Support.
Additionally, Stephanie has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine and the New York Law Journal and on podcasts commenting on family law. She is a published thought leader in family law, authoring several articles for Matrimonial Strategist, the New York Law Journal, New York Family Law Monthly and New Jersey Family Lawyer (a publication sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Association). She has also penned materials for the "Basic Matrimonial Law Series" sponsored by the New York State Bar and has lectured before the New York State Bar.
