Justin Corbalis is a principal attorney in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. Justin’s litigation practice spans a variety of areas, including complex commercial cases, class actions at the state and federal level, bankruptcy litigation, business divorce, shareholder oppression suits, tax appeals, environmental claims, administrative enforcement actions, and the emerging field of recreational cannabis litigation in New Jersey. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants across diverse industries, such as telecommunications, technology, insurance, financial services, real estate, energy, manufacturing, payment processing and cannabis.
Justin’s skills are not limited to litigation, however. He has developed a regulatory practice that spans all aspects of New Jersey's recreational and medical cannabis industries, including company formation and structuring, application writing, operations guidance, real estate acquisition, financing, employment, contract drafting, community relations, securing trustworthy local connections, and the list goes on. Justin successfully advised some of New Jersey’s first annual license awardees for cannabis cultivation, retail, and manufacturing. And over the years, he has developed a deep network of administrative and political connections at the state and local levels to assist his clients with all aspects of their businesses.
Beyond cannabis, Justin brings a depth of experience in gaming law across all 50 states through his former role as outside general counsel to one of the world's largest payment processors, focusing on gaming and gambling compliance. His expertise includes sports betting, daily fantasy sports, horse racing, skill gaming, social gaming and sweepstakes law.
In the pro bono realm, Justin advocates for the National Women's Law Center, victims of domestic violence, and disabled veterans. Prior to entering private practice, Justin honed his skills as an exhaustive researcher and a persuasive, informative writer by clerking for the Hon. Ronald A. Guzmán and the Hon. Maria Valdez of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Outside of the law, Justin can be found practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu with his family, exploring the outdoors, and continuing to hone his skills as a chef.
