Joe’s practice focuses on domestic and foreign patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property litigation, validity analysis support, infringement analysis support, and due diligence.
Joe works on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications for clients ranging from large multinational corporations to entrepreneurial start-ups in emerging technology fields. Joe has helped prosecute patent applications in technology areas including prosthetics, surgical tools, computer hardware, microelectronics, optics, and drug delivery. He also has experience in patent acquisition and IP licensing.
Joe has experience in enforcing IP rights through litigation and reexamination- proceedings. Joe has also provided extensive research and analysis on topics such as maintaining ownership of IP rights, claiming functional language, and overcoming §101 rejections.
Though his technical experience is varied, Joe’s particular areas of focus include medical devices, biotechnology, optics, and mechanics.
Joe has industry experience as an assistant medical lab technician at both Main Line Health and Quest Diagnostics. During that time, he developed an interest in electronics and medical devices and the legal strategies that ensure protection of innovations in those fields. That interest led to Joe’s work in patent law.
