Jeffrey Bright is a Principal attorney in the firm’s Construction practice group. Jeff has a multi-state construction law practice and is licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland, D.C., Virginia and California. With more than a decade of legal experience focused on the construction industry, he advises on construction contracts, project disputes and other legal issues that arise in the construction industry, including labor and employment law, real estate and prevailing wage.
Jeff routinely assists clients in redlining and negotiating construction contracts and has advised on hundreds of contract documents and negotiations. He prioritizes practical, solutions-oriented advice and has guided clients on various project delivery methods, including traditional design-bid-build, design-build, multi-prime, delegated design, CM as advisor, CM at risk, joint venture and sophisticated variations of cost-plus fee with GMP contracts.
In addition to negotiating construction contracts, Jeff advises and represents clients on project claims and disputes. He has litigated numerous cases in state and federal court, as well as disputes in front of administrative agencies, such as the Board of Claims. Jeff is experienced in arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute procedures. He has represented clients in a wide range of disputes, ranging from multi-million-dollar complex multi-party claims to practical solutions to reduce risk on challenging projects.
Jeff is experienced with all types of construction disputes and claims, including breach of contract; mechanics' lien claims; payment and performance bond claims; construction defect claims; change orders, differing site conditions, and scope disputes; negligent design, and errors and omissions claims; liquidated damages claims; time impact, delay, disruption, lost productivity, and acceleration claims; statutory prompt pay claims; and insurance coverage and indemnity claims.
