Beginning in February 2024, Brian Dorwin and Akysia L. Resper of the Landlord Representation Group will host a series of webinars addressing all things fair housing and the NC eviction process. This webinar series will take a closer look at common fair housing issues that arise and how you should address them, as well as everything you need to know before filing a complaint in summary ejectment, after you file a complaint in summary ejectment, and what you should do once you receive a money judgment. If you are interested in learning more about any of these topics, join us each quarter beginning in February 2024.

Brian Dorwin’s practice in civil and administrative litigation is focused primarily on real estate law, including residential and commercial landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing Act compliance and regulatory compliance. Additionally, Brian has experience in complex construction litigation, discrimination defense, subsidized housing lease-ups and compliance and alternative dispute resolution. He also regularly assists owners of commercial and residential properties in business licensing and other matters of District of Columbia code compliance.

Akysia Resper

Akysia Resper is an attorney in the firm’s Landlord Representation practice. Akysia represents and advises her clients in matters involving civil litigation with an emphasis in landlord-tenant and real estate matters. Akysia works on behalf of owners of single-family homes, apartment complexes, mobile home parks, transient occupancies and property management companies.  She has experience representing landlords in Small Claims and District Court in counties throughout North Carolina, and handling cases involving claims for breach of implied warranty of habitability, unfair and deceptive trade practices and other similar claims. Akysia has had much success settling and resolving these types of matters. She understands that certain aspects of the legal process can be intimidating and takes pride in being an advocate for her clients, helping defend and protect their rights, interests and assets.

In addition to representing landlords in court, Akysia also assists landlords in addressing housing code violations, advises clients on compliance with relevant laws, drafting residential and commercial leases and resolving other landlord-tenant disputes.
