HR Manager (California/Partial Remote)

Offit Kurman, a growing full-service law firm, is seeking an HR Manager to join its growing team. The HR Manager is a driving force behind the development and implementation of HR programs that align with the firm’s specific goals and objectives. This position bridges strategic thinking and hands-on execution, crafting impactful HR initiatives and rolling them out across the organization. The HR Manager partners closely with leadership and key internal stakeholders, including management, legal counsel, and employees, to provide proactive advice and facilitate change. The HR manager will lead key initiatives in talent management, employee engagement, employee relations, and compliance. * While this position is hybrid remote, it is preferred that they reside in the Los Angeles or surrounding areas and can make it on-site for occasional meetings. *

 

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive HR strategies, aligning them with the overall business objectives and priorities.
  • Proactively identify and anticipate future needs, advising leadership on talent acquisition, retention, and workforce planning.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, mentorship, and development opportunities to a high-performing team of HRBPs and Generalists.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Utilize HR analytics and metrics to measure program effectiveness, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and implement HR data reporting dashboards to provide clear and actionable insights to leadership.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in HR, applying them to optimize our programs and initiatives.

Compliance and Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple locations.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to managers and HR colleagues on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including payroll, benefits, onboarding, separations, and legal, to ensure seamless administration of HR processes.

Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Employee Engagement:

  • Collaborate with talent acquisition and recruitment to attract, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Partner with managers and leaders to implement effective performance management systems and succession planning processes.
  • Collaborate with employee training and engagement teams to foster a positive culture, boost morale, and drive productivity.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Build strong and lasting relationships and collaboration with senior leadership, managers, employees, and HR colleagues across the organization.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, delivering clear, concise, and persuasive presentations and messages.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and open communication, encouraging participation and feedback from all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in HR or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in a progressive HR leadership role. (required)
  • SHRM or HRCI certified with California focus (preferred).

Skills and competencies:

  • Proven success in implementing HR initiatives across all areas: planning, data analysis, talent management, and employee engagement.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Masterful communicator, excelling in engaging presentations and building rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Hands-on expertise in developing and deploying enterprise-wide policies and procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance.
  • Dynamic leader with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing HR teams.
  • Proficient in leading HRIS platforms, including UltiPro and other enterprise solutions.

Additional Information:

  • This role will be seated on the west coast (preferred).
  • Occasional travel to visit multiple office locations.
