New Tipped Employee Wage and Hour Guidance
What if one of your employees performs work where they customarily and regularly receive tips for 5 hours but then helps out with back of the house work that does not generate tips for another 3 hours? How do you pay this person? What happens when one of your managers receives a tip for their excellent service, can they keep it? It is imperative that these scenarios are addressed properly, and it is not as simple as yes or no.
Join a labor and employment attorney for a 30-minute briefing on paying your tipped employees pursuant to the recently enacted rules on dual jobs and tip pooling. They will provide general guidance on paying tipped employees, including notice requirements and taking a tip credit. They will also present succinct rules for employer compliance.
